Luosto
Located a little over 100km north of Rovaniemi in the heart of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, the Luosto resort has plenty to offer throughout the year. A small and intimate resort, Luosto is particularly suitable for families and those looking for more relaxed skiing. There are seven slopes, accessed by 4 lifts, a snow park for snowboarders and free-skiers, and for cross-country skiers there are 150 km of maintained tracks.
Other winter activities available in Luosto include ice-fishing, winter swimming, husky sledding and farm visits, reindeer sleigh rides and farm visits, horseback treks, aurora hunts, winter biking, ice karting, snowmobile safaris, and snowshoe expeditions. In the summer months visitors will find the region perfect for hiking, cycling and mountain biking, visits to the Luosto Amethyst mine, birdwatching, frisbee golf, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, and horseback riding.
Pyhä-Luosto National Park
The southernmost area of great fells in Finland provides visitors to explore the magnificent scenery and stunning nature of Lapland while close to a vast range of services. The surrounding Pyhä-Luosto National Park is a mosaic of open fell and aapa mires, silent old-growth forests and rugged gorges. Pyhä-Luosto National Park is a superb destination for day trips and short hikes throughout the year. The 35-km-long fell chain in Pyhä-Luosto is a remnant of one of the Earth’s oldest mountain ranges, formed over 2000 million years ago.
