Levi Attractions

The main attraction in the Levi area is Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, Finland’s third largest National Park. One of the Finnish national landscapes, it is dominated by fells surrounded by lakes, forests, and mires in their natural state. Thanks to its varying terrain, pure air, and natural beauty, Pallas-Yllästunturi is the perfect place to ski, hike, and generally enjoy the outdoors.

A little south of Kittilä, the closest town to Levi, the village of Kaukonen is home to the Särestöniemi Museum. Reidar Särestöniemi was a prominent Finnish artist and there are almost 500 pieces on display here. Gallery Raekallio in the village of Pöntsö features a permanent exhibition of art by Reijo Raekallio, among other art. The Einari Junttila Taidemuseo in Kittilä displays around 85 pieces, mostly watercolours, and almost all dealing with life and nature in his native Lapland.

Although the region is not famed for its architecture, there is a delightful church in Kittilä designed by C.L. Engel and completed in 1831.

Made from over 10,000 m² of ice and snow, the Levi Ice Gallery & Snow Hotel is located 7 km from central Levi, and features a wide selection of snow rooms in various sizes, decorated individually with ice sculptures, snow reliefs and lights, and opens every winter.
